We met with the kids, we chose the image and the message to send.” On the bench appears the writing “senseless gestures, desperate screams”, the letters of which were cut from newspaper articles, “which well encapsulates – concludes Navolio – our concept of ‘no to war'”.

The masterpiece that screams against war

In the heart of the Spanish civil war, in 1937, the world watched helplessly as the terrible bombing of the Basque city of Guernica by the Spanish nationalist air forces, allies of Francisco Franco. This tragic event would inspire one of the most powerful and iconic masterpieces of the 20th century: Pablo Picasso’s “Guernica”.

“Guernica” is a large painting, measuring 3.49 meters by 7.76 meters, created with the oil on canvas technique. It is characterized by predominant colors such as white and black, with touches of gray and blue. This color choice helps create a dark and oppressive atmosphere, reflecting the horror of the situation.
