COMEL Award 2024: contemporary art competition

CO.ME.L, Commerce Metals Latina, presents the COMEL Contemporary Art Award 2024a competition that involves the creation of works with aluminium.

A prize up for grabs from 3,500 euros and the possibility of exhibiting one’s work.

CONTEMPORARY ART COMPETITION COMEL PRIZE 2024

CO.ME.L, a company that operates in the trade and processing of semi-finished aluminum metals, has published the notice of COMEL Award 2024: the international competition that promotes theaesthetic use of aluminium.

The COMEL Award, established in 2012, aims to consolidate the bond between business and contemporary art, giving artists the opportunity to shape aluminium, a 100% recyclable element, loading it with aesthetic, constructive and communicative properties. The art competition also aims to promote intercultural relations between European countries and to create a meaningful relationship between the public and artists.

The theme of the 2024 contest is “Aluminium, Below the Surface”, an invitation to go beyond appearances and seek what is most hidden.

RECIPIENTS

All artists who have reached the age of 18, of European nationality or who live and work in all countries of the European continentwho use aluminum as the main element in the creation of the work they intend to enter in the competition.

SELECTION

A high-level jury selects, among all the entries received, the 13 finalist works that they will be exposed to Latin, in the Spazio COMEL Arte Contemporanea gallery, the exclusive venue of the event, in the month of October 2024.

The winner will be awarded the Jury Prize, while the public who visits the exhibition will be asked to vote for their favorite works, deciding the winner of the Public Prize.

PRIZES

The single winning artist designated by the Jury will be awarded the COMEL Prize which consists of a cash prize of 3,500 eurosin a personal exhibition at the Spazio COMEL Arte Contemporanea gallery, with the related publication of a catalogue.

The work will become part of the permanent CO.ME.L. collection.

The artist who receives the most preferences from visitors to the exhibition will be awarded the COMEL Public Prize which consists of the possibility of exhibiting in a personal exhibition inside the gallery, Space COMEL Contemporary Art.

COMEL METAL TRADING LATINA

CO.ME.L., Commercio Metalli Latina, is a leading company in the trading and processing of metals founded in 1968 and currently in an absolute leading position in the processing of aluminium, a specialty which has made it necessary to create a increasingly equipped production. In recent years, two systems have become available for the coupling of profiles and thermal cutting, the equipment for the creation of automatic systems for armored doors and mosquito nets and the equipment for the design of aluminium-wood and aluminum frames.

HOW TO PARTICIPATE IN THE COMEL 2024 COMPETITION

To register for the 2024 COMEL Prize contemporary art competition, artists can submit the application by June 23, 2024by filling out the appropriate online form available on this page.

Candidates must indicate:

• name and surname;
• country and date of birth;
• place of residence (country, city, province);
• mailing address;
• email address and any website or references you deem useful;
• phone numbers;
• a series of 3-5 images of the work in full size and of the work taken from different angles (for a grand total of 5 MB) which clearly shows the work of aluminium, with an indication of the technical characteristics and construction materials, measurements, title and year of execution;
• a brief description of the work you intend to present;
• short curriculum vitae, biography and artist statement;
• authorization to process personal data;
• full acceptance of the prize regulations referred to in this announcement.
