Product previews from Milan Design Week 2024: let’s start with the previews, are you ready?
«Ten, Nine, Eight, Seven, Six, Five, Four, Three, Two, One, Lift off… Commencing countdown, engines on»… but on the starting blocks, this time there is no Major Tom from David Bowie, but our crew is ready to reveal the latest product news of Milan Design Week 2024. Many things are already known of course: this year it’s the turn of Eurocucina and the Salone del Bagno, and so far nothing strange, it happens every two years, alternating with the world of lighting. What we don’t yet know, however, is the position of all the brands in the sector that have been moved due to the change in layout.
The area dedicated to the Floral boiserie system with the new Virtus island, the result of the collaboration between L’Ottocento with makethatstudio, celebrates stylistic balance through an elegant intertwining of materials and colours.

For the rest, we can ascertain, with a hint of regret, that the fair has become smaller over the years, unbalancing the already delicate proportion between Salone and Fuorisalone in favor of the latter. But these are just numerical guesses, it’s the content that counts. And for those looking for designs, the Rho exhibition remains the main source of information. But while many companies decide to go to the city, there are those who, like the Italian Radical Design group – Gufram, Memphis and Meritalia (which had been missing in the hearts of design enthusiasts for years) – chooses to “travel in a stubborn and contrary direction” and with that pinch of anarchy that the legacy of Sottsass and “compagnia bella” necessarily entails, has chosen to stay right in the temple of design created by Massimiliano Fuksas.
