Genoa – In the long weekend from 25 April to 1 May the Cinque Terre confirm themselves as a favorite destination for tourists in Liguria, with the structures occupied for approximately 90% of availability in particular in Vernazza and Cornigliawhere to date there are 5% of free rooms, the Ponente follows closely with 85% of availability sold out, Genoa records record data with over 94% of sold-out accommodation facilities. These are the data released by the Region which reports that “the weather does not slow down arrivals in Liguria, with a significant influx of Italian and foreign tourists in other locations such as Sestri Levante, Camogli, Portofino, Ventimiglia, Alassio and Finale Ligure.

“This year, meteorological uncertainty favors last minute decisions – comments the president of the Liguria Region Giovanni Toti – However, this has not at all discouraged tourists, mainly Italian, who consider Liguria an ideal destination for their holidays, whether of two days or a week. Genoa, then, deserves a particular mention as it continues to attract visitors thanks to its lively offer of cultural activities and events, confirming the success of the tourism policies of a Region in constant expansion regardless of the weather”.

“Despite an uncertain weather, Liguria continues to be a highly sought-after destination thanks both to the promotional policies implemented by the Region and also to the greater ease of reaching our locations. – highlights the regional councilor for Tourism Augusto Sartori – I remember that the ‘sea trains’ have been active for a couple of weeks, guaranteeing new additional connections for Liguria with Lombardy and Piedmont. As regards Lombardy, there are twenty-one additional connections: ten on Saturdays and eleven on public holidays thanks to the collaboration between Trenitalia, Trenord, Liguria Region and Lombardy Region. As regards Piedmont, there are 18 ‘Ponente Line’ connections scheduled by Trenitalia with the Piedmont Region between Turin, Savona, Albenga and Imperia which are added to the 18 daily connections between the Piedmontese capital and Savona, of which 6 continue up to Ventimiglia with stops in the localities of the Riviera di Ponente, and the two additional trains for 24 June between Turin and Imperia”.
