Juventus and Milan draw 0-0 in the match of the 34th matchday of the 2023-2024 Serie A. The draw allows Pioli’s Rossoneri to secure second place with 70 points and 5 points ahead of the Bianconeri, who are third on 65 and can be caught by Bologna, fourth on 62.

The big match is only such on paper. Against a Milan without a starting defence, with Maignan knocked out in the warm-up and replaced in goal by Sportiello, Allegri’s Juve essentially created nothing for the entire first half. The Juventus team proposes the recipe offered frequently throughout the season: slow pace, convoluted maneuver, avalanche of technical errors. We shouldn’t be surprised if scoring opportunities are non-existent in the first half, as Milan play at a reduced pace against opponents capable of getting a shot on target only in the 47th minute: free kick from Vlahovic, Sportiello is attentive.

The show improves in the second half. Juve tries to sting in the 50th minute with Kostic: Sportiello rejects the diagonal and is also good at intervening on Danilo’s tap-in. You can’t see Milan in front, except with sporadic shots from outside that don’t reach the goal. Allegri changes the attack by throwing Chiesa and Milik into the fray. The two substitutes produce a near-chance in the 73rd minute: cross from the winger, header from the Polish attacker, Sportiello blocks. In the 86th minute the last thrill. It all starts again from Chiesa’s initiative, McKennie’s header threatens to surprise Sportiello and it’s up to Thiaw to save on Rabiot.
