Presided by the prefect of L’Aquila, Giancarlo Di Vincenzo, a meeting of the regional conference of public security authorities took place yesterday in L’Aquila, attended by the prefects of Chieti and Teramo, the vice-prefect vicar of Pescara, the prosecutor of the Court of Appeal, as well as the prosecutors and deputies of the courts of L’Aquila, Chieti, Pescara, Avezzano, Teramo and Vasto, the prosecutor of the juvenile court, as well as the regional leaders of the police forces, the first citizens of L’Aquila and Chieti and the deputy mayors of Pescara and Teramo and representatives of the government regional. «The meeting», we read in a note from the prefecture of L’Aquila, «is among the initiatives prepared by the Ministry of the Interior aimed at preventing and combating criminal phenomena. During the meeting the main aspects relating to public order and safety concerning Abruzzo were addressed, with an in-depth analysis of the various issues related to the four individual provinces and a general analysis of the trend of criminal phenomena in the regional territory. Generally speaking, in terms of crime trends, there are no critical issues, an aspect which however must not lead to underestimations. On the topic of urban security, there is great attention from the population with the action of the police forces aimed at combating every episode precisely with the aim of improving, even in the absence of significant data on crime, the level of perception of safety. Likewise, particular attention was paid to the analysis of predatory crimes.”
A specific focus was dedicated to the infiltration of organized crime into the economic and social fabric of Abruzzo, highlighting at the same time how it is always necessary to maintain high attention on the phenomenon, as also demonstrated by the anti-mafia interdictions adopted by the prefectures «which have contributed to strengthening the impermeability of the healthy economy of Abruzzo from infiltration attempts”. Another element of analysis turned out to be that connected to the public works financed with Pnrr funds and to the monitoring and control action that the prefectures have started some time ago. Gender violence is also the subject of careful evaluation.
The meeting was also an opportunity to analyze the issue of youth distress, and on this topic the importance of being able to promptly intercept the most varied forms of manifestation of the phenomenon was underlined, with a view to prevention and contrast . The establishment of a control room which will meet every two months in order to develop and deepen the analyzes that emerged in the meeting is agreed upon.
