After the official announcement of the protagonist cast of 28 Years Later, the new film by Danny Boyle written by Alex Garland and the first chapter of a trilogy by Sony, new rumors have emerged about the role of Cillian Murphy.

According to what was reported by the well-known journalist and insider Jeff Sneider, in fact, Cillian Murphy won’t return to acting in 28 years later: the Oscar-winning actor for Oppenheimer, protagonist of the original cult 28 Days Later, will be a producer of the first chapter of the new 28 Years Later trilogy and also of the subsequent films that make it up, but he will not act as an actor; on the other hand, however, he will be present in the second episode, which as we know will be directed by Nia DaCosta, director of the sequel to Candyman and The Marvels. For the moment, however, neither Boyle nor Garland have confirmed or denied the role of Cillian Murphy.

In an interview with Variety, recorded in December 2023, the actor declared that he was “available” and interested in taking part in the sequels also as an actor, again as the protagonist of 28 Days Later Jim. Filming on 28 Years Later will begin in May, with Cillian Murphy filming Steven Knight’s Peaky Blinders film in September; the actor should also film Blood Runs Coal by the end of the year.

28 Years Later: Part 1 has a budget of $60 million, with the cast led by Ralph Fiennes, Jodie Comer and Aaron Taylor-Johnson.

On DUNE: PART TWO (4K Ultra HD Blu-ray) It is one of today’s best sellers.
