Why did Quentin Tarantino cancel The Movie Critic? Many details have emerged in recent days about the cancellation of The Movie Critic, here’s what you need to know.
A new investigative article by The Hollywood Reporter has revealed, through several sources close to the author (who however refused to release a statement on the subject), that Tarantino wrote off The Movie Critic because he was ‘much more enthusiastic about other ideas‘.
According to reconstructions, the director – still determined to retire after his next film, which will be the tenth of his career – would have reworked The Movie Critic’s script four times: the original version would have concerned the real deceased film critic Pauline Kael, as initially anticipated by the rumors; the second version would have followed a critical imagery of 1970s porn films; the third version would have been a spin-off of Once Upon a Time in Hollywood with the return of Brad Pitt’s Cliff Booth; finally the fourth version would have been a sort of Tarantino Cinematic Universefor a farewell meta-film that would weave together all of the director’s previous films and re-imagine them for The Movie Critic’s era.
However, none of these ideas satisfied Quentin Tarantinowho has decided to give up the entire project directly and start working on a new film: we will keep you updated on all the upcoming news.
