Alpine Cup, today the technical tests then tomorrow the start from Trieste

The fourth edition of the Alpine Cup: this afternoon, in Trieste, the technical and sporting checks will take place in Piazza Unità d’Italia, from where tomorrow morning will start the regularity race for cars built up to 1990 which includes 90 timed trials covering over 1,600 kilometres.

The five-stage Grand Tour will cross the entire Alpine arc from East to West, from Trieste to Courmayeur, crossing the borders of seven nations: 1000 Miglia presents The Great Alpine Journey, a path of reflection parallel to the race aimed at representing the socio-economic transformations , anthropological and environmental aspects that cross the Alpine macroregion. To make the competitors an active part of the project, the number of cars competing was limited to 30flanked by further cars that will host reference experts on the macro-topics addressed.

During stops along the route, the experts will meet institutions and examples of local best practices, encouraging exchanges and sharing experiences. The sum of these contributions collected over the days will be presented in a final conference, scheduled for Saturday 4 May in Courmayeur.

The stages and themes

From Trieste the crews will reach Kranjska Gora, in Slovenia, to talk about sustainable tourism projects. In Cortina, at the Faloria Refuge at over 2,100 metres, the topic will focus on accessible and sustainable Olympics. Tuesday 30th lunch at the Messner Museum in Ripa in the company of Reinhold Messner, who will share projects and experiences.

Having reached Austria, in Seefeld there will be a discussion on the connections between mountain agriculture and tourist offers while, after transiting through Germany in Garmisch, the return to Italy in Livigno will focus on Olimpyc’s Legacy, sustainability, accessibility, inclusion; the end of the stage in Switzerland, in Saint Moritz, will deal with sports infrastructures for tourism development.

On the morning of May 2nd, after a break in Vaduz with the greeting of the Prime Minister of Lichtenstein and a stop at the Swiss Transport Museum in Lucerne, the arrival in Gstaad in the evening will address the topics of breeding and dairy production. On Friday 3rd the stop in Chamonix will offer the extraordinary panorama from 1,900 meters above sea level on the Mont Blanc of the Refuge du Montenvers, before the final finish line in Courmayeur where we will talk about mountain agri-food production.

The final conference in the Courmayeur Congress Center is scheduled for Saturday starting at 10am.
