VELLETRI (events) – Inauguration with the city authorities

The “two days” of celebration dedicated to the typical artichoke at Matticella veliterno began this morning at 10.30, organized with the patronage and contribution of the municipality, by the associations Artistamente, Proloco Velitrae and Vignaroli Velletrani with large participation of visitors from the early hours in the morning, then lunch with the Roman stornelli of the “Stornell’Attori” group and in the evening with the “Erre Sei” group. In the interludes many other initiatives and attractions in the structure of the daily fruit and vegetable market in via Rioli “ColtiVendo”. In the afternoon of Saturday at around 4.30pm the official inauguration with the mayor Ascanio Cascella, his council, the city councilors and the local, civil, religious and military authorities.

Today, at lunchtime, with tastings of grilled artichokes (matticella for the veliterni), the wines of the Castelli and Lazio, the councilor for agriculture Cristian Simonetti, the councilor and former mayor of Velletri Fausto Servadio, the councilor for entertainment, tourism and events Paolo Felci and other illustrious guests.
Tomorrow it will be repeated for the entire and final day with live music, at lunch with the talented singer Lavinia Fiorani and in the evening with the singer-songwriter Icaro (tribute to Renato Zero). Many more shows and games for children, in Silvia and Riccardo’s “Fantasy Jungle” with inflatables for children, tastings of dishes based on local artichokes and other local cuisine. On Sunday afternoon at 5pm there will also be a conference on the theme of Agriculture, Typical Products and Wine, in the presence of the regional councilor Giancarlo Righini, the president of the Radica Wine City Association, other experts in the sector, mayors and administrators public of the Castles and the Lazio Region.
Inside the “Matticella Artichoke Festival” there is also a beautiful and well-stocked Artisan Market, with costume jewelery creations by Valentina Mancini di Marino and other exhibitors.

The event has the patronage of the Lazio Region, with the collaboration of the Volsca Ambiente company which deals with separate waste collection and cleaning of the structure, Lazio Crea, Velletri Servizi. ilmamilio.it is also a media partner of the initiative.
Entrance to the structure is completely free.
