The photographic exhibition of the Veneranda Fabbrica del Duomo. The first two events between the Cathedral Museum and the streets of the city

Still a protagonist in the history of Milan, the Duomo has been a witness to social, cultural and urban changes over the centuries and a favorite subject of photographers of all times from the 19th century to today. PORTRAIT OF THE CATHEDRAL. Photographic history of the Cathedral and its Factory (until 23 July 2024) delves into its history, inaugurating the entire project in the Sala Gian Galeazzo, inside the Cathedral Museum: between unpublished period testimonies and contemporary shots, as well as virtual production and supports guided by artificial intelligence – thanks to which some historical images come to life to offer an immersive experience – the Cathedral is told through its construction sites and historical heritage artistic that it preserves. Followed, again from Tuesday 23 April (and until 26 May 2024), FROM MEMORY TO THE FUTURE. The Cathedral of Milan and its Factoryhosted for Corso Vittorio Emanuele II (between Piazza del Duomo and Piazza San Babila) where some photographs from the Veneranda Fabbrica Archive are presented in large format panels and accompanied by short texts containing descriptions and curiosities. “The Duomo is an exceptional communication vehicle. For centuries, he traveled in Europe through prints and maps, already anticipating the identification between Milan and its Cathedral that would explode with the invention of photography, then cinema and, finally, television. The image, in the case of the Cathedral, is not just memory, but is the thread that connects the past to our present and to the future of the city”, concluded the president of the Veneranda Fabbrica del Duomo Fedele Confalonieri.
