These are the main cities that are targeted by Russian offensives in Ukraine. Moscow’s forces concentrated their attacks on Sunday, damaging a residential building in Kiev and killing at least one person in an attack on a post office building in Kharkiv.

Attacks in Kiev are not as frequent as in other large urban centers and are relatively rare after a series of assaults in March.

The military administration of the city of Kiev confirmed that a missile hit a residential building multi-story apartment building in the capital on Sunday. City Mayor Vitali Klitschko said a fire broke out on the eighth and ninth floors.

There were no casualties from the attack, but five injured people were treated at the scene and an elderly woman was taken to hospital.

Kharkiv, on the other hand, is subjected to regular bombing. and Sunday’s attack on a postal depot killed a driver and started a fire.

Meanwhile, in the eastern part of the country, Ukrainian military drone footage released on Sunday showed what appeared to be dead bodies in a civilian area in the city of Toretsk.

The city, in the Donetsk region, has been subjected to heavy Russian shelling in recent days and has required a increased evacuation effort by Ukrainian rescue services.

Rescue workers from the White Angels police unit helped elderly residents out of their homes, carrying one woman out of bed and onto a stretcher.

“Yesterday there was a powerful offensive: drones, mortars, anti-aircraft guns are constantly in operation. A very dangerous and stressful situation” said White Angels officer Vitalii Bukariev.

Zelensky: “We need more air defense”

In a post on X, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky said Russia has used 800 guided aerial bombs on targets across Ukraine this week alone.

“Ukraine needs the necessary means to destroy the carriers of these bombs, including Russian fighter planes, wherever they are,” he said. “This step is essential. Clear decisions are needed to help protect our people: a modern air defense are the basis for stopping Russia’s daily terror.”

Ukrainian officials also said that a Russian missile attack on a city in the eastern Ukrainian region of Zaporizhzhiaon Saturday, killed seven people, including three children.

More than 30 people were injured in the attack on Vilnyanskwhich caused a large fire and severe damage to residential buildings and critical infrastructure.
