Russian fighter jets arriving in Iran

L’Iran will receive the first supply of latest generation Russian Sukhoi SU-35 fighters in the next few days. The Iranian media reported it. According to the website of the Etemad newspaper, Iran purchased the fighter jets in November. No further details were released, but according to unofficial reports this would be a total of 24 new fighter jets.

On April 17, Iran threatened to react with a “powerful and ferocious” response to the slightest act of aggression on its soil by Israel. It was President Ebrahim Raisi who declared it, while there was still news about the timing and extent of a retaliation by the Jewish State for the Iranian attack. And, immediately afterwards, the commander of the Iranian Air Force, General Hamid Vahedi, assured that the country was ready to hit the targets, particularly with other Russian jets, the Sukhoi Su-24. According to statements reported by IRNA, not only Russian-made supersonic tactical bombers are ready, but also other fighters. Now, then, the news about the SU-35s.

The Israeli missile that evades radar systems

But it’s not just Iranian weapons. In fact, according to what the ‘New York Times’ reports, which cites two Western sources, one of the missiles launched two days ago by Israel against the air defenses of the Natanz nuclear site had advanced technology to evade Iranian radar systems. And two sources in the country then confirmed to the US newspaper that they had not detected intrusions into their airspace by drones, missiles or planes.

According to the American newspaper, the fighter from which the missile was launched was “far from both Israeli and Iranian airspace” and did not even enter Jordanian airspace, in a move calculated to keep Amman away from possible retaliation, despite the fact that a week ago he participated in the defense action against the Iranian attack against Israel.

The New York Times writes that “Israel’s use of drones launched from inside Iranian territory and the launch of a missile that cannot be detected is intended to be a preview for Tehran of what could be a larger large-scale attack”. Friday’s attack, the newspaper underlines, “was calibrated to make Iran think twice about launching a direct attack against Israel in the future”.
