The political leaders of the Palestinian Islamist movement Hamas are reportedly exploring the possibility of moving their base of operations out of Qatar. The Wall Street Journal reports this, citing Arab sources, according to which the Hamas leadership has recently contacted two countries in the region to allow the group’s leaders to live there. One of the two countries is Oman, according to the sources. “The talks – for the release of the hostages and for the ceasefire – are already stalled again, with almost no sign or prospect that they will resume any time soon, and mistrust is growing between Hamas and the negotiators,” he told the «WSJ» an Arab mediator. Another Arab mediator warned that “the possibility of the talks being completely upended is very real”, and Hamas leaders would face threats of expulsion if they do not agree to a hostage deal. Today the head of the political bureau of Hamas, Ismail Haniyeh, resident in Doha, Qatar, is expected in Turkey.

The Israel Defense Forces (IDF), meanwhile, bombed armed group positions in Beit Hanoun, in the north of the Gaza Strip, after rockets were launched on Sderot, in southern Israel. The IDF reported this on X, specifying that among the targets hit there was also an underground launch site. Only one of the rockets aimed at Sderot crossed the border into Israel and was shot down by the Israeli Iron Dome defense system. During the night, the IDF concludes, other targets of the Palestinian armed groups, including Hamas and Islamic Jihad, were struck with fighters and drones.
