Last March 6 she was the victim of one gang rape. And a few days ago she passed away in a hospital bed at just 13 years old, after three weeks of agony. The protagonist of the dramatic story that shocked France is a student named Shanon, who was attacked in the town of Rantigny last month. According to what the French press reports, it was three boys who the young girl had previously met on social networks who raped her. A real gang violence, for which three young people aged between 17 and 19 are under investigation. According to what was reported by the newspaper Le Parisienthe main suspect in the rape would be a 19-year-old boy arrested in the last few hours, who allegedly acted with the complicity of an 18-year-old friend and a minor (with the latter currently under investigation at large).
The fact that Shanon died approximately twenty days after the events gives a new twist to the accusations against the three accused, in particular the alleged attacker. The Senlis prosecutor’s office has in fact extended the crime hypothesis to “rape leading to the death of the victim”, which according to French law is apparently punishable with 30 years of imprisonment. “Injured following this attack, the victim was hospitalized in serious, life-threatening condition. She and she died on March 27, 2024 in hospital. A forensic autopsy will precisely determine the cause of death – the public prosecutor of Senlis, Loïc Abrial, confirmed in this regard – the alleged rapist is being held in pre-trial detention. The two co-indicted, suspected of voluntary abstention to prevent a crime, were released, with an adult placed under judicial supervision and a minor placed under a provisional judicial educational measure. Nobody has a criminal record.”
A friend of the deceased’s family then threw a fundraiser online, to support family members who are apparently in precarious economic conditions. “I am not used to asking for help or money, but the little girl’s parents are destitute and I would like to appeal to your generosity to help them bury their daughter with dignity – he wrote, inviting users to contribute – Shanon she left to join the angels last Wednesday, we will never forget our little princess with her beautiful smile and laughter.”
However, investigations by the police are continuing and there could be further developments in the next few hours.
