Only a few hours ago, on these pages we talked about the cancellation of five TV channels on digital terrestrial. However, today another news arrives because it has become official first date that will lead us towards the activation of the new DVB-T2 standard on Italian territory.

In particular, Rai has established (as required by the new services contract) the switching on of Mux Mutiplex B in DVB-T2 for the night between 27 and 28 August 2024. The composition of the mux has not yet been surveyed, but the package currently includes TV channels such as Rai 1 HD, Rai 2 HD, Rai 3 HD, Rai 4, Rai 5, Rai Scuola, Rai Play (via HbbTV), Rai Radio 2 Visual, Rai Play Sound, SMtv San Marino, and other state TV channels in HbbTV (via internet).

Furthermore, between 27 and 28 May 2024, Rai has scheduled a test temporary which will allow technicians to verify the correct functioning of the new digital terrestrial in some areas of the territory. During this period of time, Multiplex B will switch to DVB-T2 for a period of up to six hours, after which it will return to the current standard awaiting definitive activation in August.

We remember that on these pages just a few weeks ago we explained when the new digital terrestrial arrives and what it is.
