I say this to the Corriere – Jew, the freedom to ask questions is not an insult
Descriptive text here

Dear Aldo,
in a democratic country journalists have the right and duty to ask all kinds of questions; it is then up to the interlocutor to decide whether to answer or not, or (if appropriate) to point out that the question is inappropriate. The alternative, for journalists, would be to receive a list of questions from politicians: but does this have anything to do with freedom of the press?
Marco De Nardi Kadge

I believe Giorgio Zanchini’s question to parliamentarian Ester Mieli is legitimate, as it is pertinent to understand whether being Jewish can have an impact on judging the state of Israel. It could have ended here, but instead Montaruli (FdI) reported the case which ended up in the Supervisory Commission, a practice which in Rai custom is equivalent to a slap to intimidate journalists.
Massimo Marnetto

Dear readers,
It seems to me that we are delirious. Jew is not an insult. In the past it was used as such, in times that no one should be nostalgic for. Asking an interlocutor if he is Jewish is like asking him if he is Catholic or Protestant or Muslim. I always ask the people I interview if they believe in God and the afterlife, what education they had, where they come from, who their parents were, and no one has ever been upset about this. If an interviewed politician considers a question inappropriate (in that context it actually could have been) he points it out, without creating a scandal, clearly orchestrated to talk about something else. Giorgio Zanchini is an excellent journalist and – as anyone who has dealt with him knows – a good and gentle person. Not anti-Semitic at all. It is enough to listen to the offending radio broadcast again to realize that on the contrary he is a defender of Israel. In any case, a journalist who was doing his job, as a true liberal like Luigi Mascheroni noted in the newspaper. This absurd controversy betrays a widespread attitude not only on the right: the journalist must be at the service of politics. A microphone holder. But in a democracy it is journalists who judge politicians; Not vice versa. Here, however, serious thought is being given to reintroducing prison for journalists, with the willing help of Action, which is not part of the government majority; while the path to take would be the opposite one, to protect freedom of opinion and against the reckless and intimidating complaints of those who have not understood that criticism is always more useful than praise.

History

That bridge over the Foglia river destroyed by the Germans

The Municipality of Pesaro has prepared, like every year, the program of celebrations for the anniversary of the Liberation of Italy from the Nazi-Fascist occupation. The honor paid to the Liberation can only find participation and solidarity in the memory of the sacrifice of the many fallen of the Partisan Brigades in the Resistance fought by exponents of various tendencies: Catholics, communists, liberals, socialists, shareholders, monarchists, anarchists, economic and social forces . But also carabinieri, financial police, agents and police officials. There was no lack of courageous contribution from ordinary people who sometimes suffered the cruel German reprisals. Protagonists of the Liberation were also the soldiers of the 1st Motorized Group of the reconstituted Italian Army (26 September 1943), of the subsequent Italian Liberation Corps, a large operational military unit of the Cobelligerent Army (22 March 1944), and therefore of the five Combat Groups (23 July 1944), who sailed up Italy with the allies as far as Milan and Venice. The indirect contribution of the 600 thousand Italian internees in German camps should not be forgotten. Federico Chabod, partisan militant and historian, wrote: What remains as the common heritage of the Resistance is the popular struggle for freedom. a historical fact that will remain in the history of Italy. Not to be overlooked is the contribution of the Jewish Brigade which, sent to the Italian front, landed in Taranto and advanced along the Adriatic, arrived in Pesaro where it rebuilt the bridge over the Foglia destroyed by the retreating German army, thus facilitating the transit of the Allied forces . The coat of arms of the Brigade is clearly visible on the keystone on both sides of the bridge.
