In the silence of dawn they would hear it ringing from the elevator shaft. So Giuseppe Ditano, the father of the 25 year old, filmed by theAnsa:

“The elevator had never stopped like that. This morning, seeing that he was not at home, we tried to ring his cell phone and realized he was in the elevator shaft. I immediately understood that something had happened and we raised the alarm.”

Investigations underway

Luke Crowned, director of theNational Association of Elevator Construction and Maintenance Companies (Anacam), regarding the accident involving Clelia Ditano, clarified to theAdnkronos that “in order to keep the elevators in operation, they must be entrusted to maintenance to a specialized company that has within it qualified technical personnel, equipped with the so-called lift operator’s license”.

This is a qualification “issued by the Prefecture following the passing of a theoretical and practical exam. In Italy, authorized maintenance is required by a specialized company that carries out at least once, every 6 monthsa check of all the safety devices of the lift, and then noting them on the libretto of the system. The other obligation is to make preventive maintenance visits to the system according to its needs. There is no minimum number of maintenance visits by law“.
