Antonio Felix da Costa wins the first E-Prix of Portland 2024, thirteenth round of Season 10 of Formula E. Second place for Robin Frijns ahead of Jean-Eric Vergne

AAntonio Felix da Costa with her Porsche took the win in a frenetic 13th round of the Season 10 from the Formula E to the first Portland E-Prize 2024. However, the dreams of glory of the leader of the drivers’ championship and of the race have faded away Nick Cassidy who, on the penultimate lap, was forced to retire due to an error with his Jaguar TCS Racing. On the podium the Envision by Robin Frijns preceding DS Penske’s Jean-Eric Vergne.
AAt the end of the race, the Porsche driver had crossed the finish line in second place, behind Mitch Evans. However, the New Zealand Jaguar driver was combined with one five second penalty for contact had with McLaren’s Jake Hughesthus falling to eighth place, while Antonio Felix da Costa took the top step of the podium together with Robin Frijns and Jean-Eric Vergne. If the penalty luck wasn’t enough for Jaguar, Nick Cassidy he lost not only the lead of the race on the penultimate lap, but also his car, ending up in spinthus finishing 19th and, therefore, outside the points zone, which are precious for extending his lead in the drivers’ standings, now stuck at 24 lengths ahead of Pascal Wehrlein, who instead finished tenth. The World Cup will therefore be decided in London.
Qfourth position for Edward Mortara and its Mahindra which precede the ABT Cupra of Nico Mullerthe Andretti of the reigning champion Jake Dannisa la McLaren Sam Birdla Jaguar in Mitch Evans due to the penalty, which still brings home the bonus points of pole position and fastest lap, DS-Penske Stoffel Vandoorne and the Porsche of Pascal Wehrlein which concludes the points zone. Disappointment for the German who could have taken advantage of the misstep of his opponent, Nick Cassidy, who leaves the first E-Prix of Portland without points awaiting tomorrow’s round.
