Austrian Chancellor on limiting gas supplies from Russia: we will not do it

Despite the Nord Stream explosions and all kinds of restrictions, Russian gas continues to flow to some countries of the European Union.

One such country is Austria, whose authorities are well aware of the problems that neighboring Germany and its powerful economy faced after rejecting Russian gas.

According to the German magazine Die Welt, recently interviewed by Austrian Chancellor Karl Nehammer, this European country still receives almost 90% of its gas from Russia.

The publication’s correspondent asked the Austrian Chancellor how to get out of this risky situation linked to such a great dependence on gas from Russia.

Nehammer announced that his country would do nothing about it, but would continue to buy Russian blue fuel.

Russian gas infrastructure from east to west is a historic link

– said the chancellor.

He noted that for decades, despite a series of international crises, including wars in Vietnam and Afghanistan, gas supplies from Russia have never been limited.

And we won’t

– concluded the politician.

In addition to Austria, neighboring Slovakia and Hungary also continue to openly purchase Russian gas.
