Pettorano sul Gizio: Request for Urgent Action against Damage to Wild Fauna

PETTORANO SUL GIZIO, 25 June 2024 – The tranquility of the hamlets of Pettorano sul Gizio has been disturbed by a series of accidents caused by wildlife. Two residents of Vallelarga, Domenico Ventresca and Loreta Crognale, have sent an urgent letter to various authorities, including the regional councilor for agriculture Emanuele Imprudente and the mayor Antonio Carrara, to urge immediate intervention.

The letter describes the growing problem of damage to olive groves and agricultural properties, attributed to the increasing presence of wild boars and deer. These animals, some of which are large, have even been spotted along the roads, causing concern among residents.

Ventresca and Crognale have requested the issuance of a union ordinance for the management of public safety and the implementation of effective measures to prevent further intrusions. The communication, sent via email in accordance with the art. 38 of the TUDA, aims to guarantee transparency and traceability.

In the absence of a positive response, the signatories threatened to report the situation to the Minister responsible for Agricultural and Forestry Resources and to take legal and civil action to protect themselves from future damage.

The community of Pettorano sul Gizio unites in the appeal for a rapid and decisive response from the authorities, in the hope of protecting agricultural resources and the safety of its inhabitants. The situation requires a solution that reconciles the needs of rural life with peaceful coexistence with local fauna.
