From Belgium to Ireland passing through some centers in Piedmont and Umbria, up to Monte Urano. Scarecrows, in Italy and abroad, are one of the symbols of the life and activity of farmers in the fields, traditional figures that have been able to inspire fairy-tale suggestions and have become the center of some initiatives and exhibition events dedicated to adults and children. One of these is held this year in Monte Urano for the third consecutive edition. It is organized by the Sant’Andrea District which, starting from 3pm on Sunday 23 June, awaits everyone for a walk that crosses its streets, public and private gardens and unravels towards the countryside. Along the route it will be possible to meet curious characters, namely scarecrows, who will have the most disparate appearances. They will be superheroes, ordinary people, characters who will resemble well-known faces from the show or original inhabitants of the area. Each work, for three years now, has been made by hand with an internal structure in wood and straw and tailor-made clothes. The inhabitants of the neighborhood, the schools participating in the initiative and many enthusiasts have been involved in the creation of the puppets for months now.
The route, along which it will be possible to get to know the scarecrows, often inserted into hilarious glimpses of daily life, is approximately 2 km long and is characterized by a stretch of asphalted roads easily accessible by people in wheelchairs or with strollers and by a a stretch that insinuates itself into the splendid scenery of the local countryside. Four-legged friends will also be welcome. Throughout the afternoon, it will be possible to enter the promenade area from any point in the neighborhood closed to traffic. In the square of Bocciofila Sant’Andrea, in Via Monte Sila, there will be a refreshment point with sandwiches and drinks. Workshops for the little ones will also be held here
