The methane “flame” was lit this morning in Favara to celebrate the conclusion of the work on the first 20 kilometers of the distribution network.
The construction of the network was made possible thanks to an overall investment of over 19 million euros, supported entirely by Italgas: over 3 thousand user connections made.
In addition to the municipal administration, an Italgas delegation was also present, which guaranteed the application of highly advanced control operating methods for the surveillance and monitoring of the infrastructure. In particular, the company presented “Picarro Surveyor”, a sophisticated sensing technology, currently the most cutting-edge in the field of gas network monitoring activities, which compared to traditional technologies offers important advantages in terms of speed of implementation and breadth of the areas subjected to control.
Mounted on service vehicles and on special backpacks, it guarantees a sensitivity for detecting the presence of gas in the air that is three orders of magnitude higher than the traditional methods currently used by other operators in the sector.
