OCEANMAN Cattolica: first day of competitions, waiting for the 10 km and the 5 km on 26/5, On Saturday 25 May 2024 at 10am the packed program of competitions for the fourth edition of OCEANMAN Cattolica began, a sea swimming competition which this year has 700 registered participants, the highest ever in the history of the event. Members come from 38 countries around the world.

While we await the toughest races, the 5km Half OCEANMAN and the 10km OCEANMAN, which will start at 11.30am and 10am respectively on Sunday 26 May, many swimmers have already finished their effort in the sea of Cattolica. OCEANKIDS, the 500 meter race reserved for the youngest, saw the girls dominate, both in terms of the podium and attendance, while OCEANTEAMS, the wild relay, was also accompanied by the cheering of those who had already finished the SPRINT, the 2km.

In the case of this race, the SPRINT, in terms of numbers, fun and energy, the many Asian swimmers of the Chinese Flying Fish Athletic Association, around 80, undoubtedly won. Between selfies, strokes and smiles they immediately made us love each other by organizers, volunteers and athletes from all over the world present in Cattolica. Swimming safely in the sea, thanks to the device provided by the organizers and the Port Authority of Cattolica, is an emotion, doing it with friends is an even greater emotion.

As regards the men’s podium, however, only two flags were hoisted: the Italian one for the winner Nicola Nisato, who has already won several times in Cattolica, and the Italian one again for the third place finisher, Elia Regazzini. In second place was the Polish Michal Tomaszowski. All the top three set a really important time, under 25 minutes. Nisato, in particular, swam 2 kilometers in just 24 minutes and 36 seconds, thanks also to the rather calm sea.

Sprint conclusion, as the name of the OCEANMAN Sprint race also suggests for the first three swimmers, all Italian: Vittoria Marcacci won in 27 minutes and 57 seconds, followed just two seconds by Sara Lovato, while Graziana Zaccaria arrived shortly after .

At OCEANMAN, however, everyone is entitled to a medal, because just reaching the finish line is not easy. Many of the swimmers were awarded by Franca Foronchi, the mayor of Cattolica, who has always believed in the event.
