The plan of interventions for around one and a half million euros continues apace, entirely financed by the Emilia Romagna Region, of which 600 thousand destined for dredging, for the port of Cattolica. The structural interventions on the catch unloading dock under the Madonnina, the Madonna of the Sea, have been completed and the statue can therefore be used by the faithful again. But the construction of the pedestrian path that will connect the Paolucci pedestrian promenade to the Lungo Tavollo promenade with new furniture is also progressing. A stretch of approximately 180 meters between the Madonnina quay and the Paolucci walk has already been created and by early June it will be open and accessible to tourists and citizens. Teams of workers are at work installing the sandstone pavement which replaces part of the old pavement. The sandstone was chosen because, due to its characteristics and peculiarities, it best enhances the tourist route of the walk. The next intervention will involve the replacement of the steel and wooden floating docks. “We continue with the redevelopment of the Port area both as a workplace for the local fishing company and as a living room overlooking the sea of Cattolica – explains the vice mayor, councilor for tourism and fishing Alessandro Belluzzi – a plan of interventions that citizens and operators of Porto have been waiting for years and which will make that area even more beautiful and attractive, with a new and pleasant promenade to follow, which will be attractive for citizens and tourists. The works will also bring an improvement in terms of nautical accessibility and safety also great attention to the environmental issue in the redevelopment plan. We will continue to deliver the new dock to the city according to the times we have set ourselves, in the meantime, those 180 meters of promenade will be passable”.
