Israel’s 72nd military invasion of Jenin (since October 7) ended yesterday after 40 hours of violence. The final toll is 12 Palestinians killed. Among them four children. Twenty-five injured. Witnesses tell of gunshots in the street, of one of the boys – Mahmoud Hamadna – shot while he was leaving school on his bike, of the teacher Allam Jaradat hit in his car, of the doctor Usaeed Jabarin hit by a sniper in front of the hospital.

The funeral took place yesterday, after the Israeli tanks left. At the Jenin hospital a long crowd lined up to pay homage to the surgeon. Drones flew for two days over the camp, bulldozers bulldozed other roads and the home of Ahmed Barakat, suspected of an attack on an Israeli civilian last year. About ten homes were damaged, some irreparably, writes AFP. Electricity and telephone lines were down for hours.

The Palestinian fighters in the camp returned fire, the armed clashes forced thousands of people to stay indoors. During the night between Wednesday and Thursday, many young people and adults were arrested: in a video they are seen kneeling, stripped, blindfolded and then beaten by soldiers. Among those arrested were also a paramedic and a woman. Dozens of houses were searched and robbed. Since October 7, the army and settlers have killed 518 Palestinians, 129 children, in the West Bank.
