Fossano mourns the death of Franco Gaggero

A volcano of ideas and vitality, a man full of passion and energy: this is who he was Franco GaggeroThat he passed away at the age of 83 in Fossano after a long illness. Ligurian by birth but Fossanese by adoption, he was well known. A great cycling enthusiast, after a past of racing in his youth, he had never stopped cycling as an amateur, so much so that he was president of Ciclomotori Fossano. He had combined this love for sport (he had also presided over Uisp Cuneo) with sensitivity towards those who were less fortunate and had created Fossano in Bici, a charity event which later became a fixed appointment in the city’s spring.

A trade unionist, he had been the provincial manager of Uilm. Another great passion of his was hunting, which he practiced regularly and which sometimes took him to the mountains on the border between Piedmont and Liguria. Whether it was a wild boar or a hare, many of his companions remember his proverbial aim, also developed with the practice of another discipline: clay pigeon shooting.

All these occupations never caused him to distance himself from his family: he was a caring, present, affectionate and much loved husband, father and grandfather. He leaves behind his wife Anna Maria, his children Emanuela, Giambi and Stefania with Gianluca, and his grandchildren Anna and Francesco. The funeral will take place tomorrow, Friday 24 May, at the Salice church in Fossano at 3pm.
