While work progresses at the Monza Autodromo to avoid a farewell to F1, the organizers are aiming for a more than multi-year renewal.

The situation involving the two Italian stages and the future linked to the Circus is anything but simple. The rumors about a possible farewell to F1 between Monza and Imola are becoming more and more insistent as the organizers of the Brianza stage are trying to obtain a multi-year renewal with new jobs.

The Monza racetrack is in fact a true open-air construction site. Several months have passed since the inauguration ceremony of the works and the first improvements are starting to be seen. Among the asphalt already partly laid at the underpasses that are starting to take shape, the organizers want to arrive ready for the September event despite the weather which is not proving to be an ally. In recent months, Lombardy has in fact often been the victim of rainfall which has slowed down the schedule.

Meanwhile, the president of the ACI, Angelo Sticchi Damiani, spoke about what their goal is for the future. “We hope we can do what the organizers of the Hungarian Grand Prix did. We would like to get a ten year renewal in order to be sure of returning the investments made to carry out the works“.

Monza’s current contract with F1 expires at the end of 2025 and his stay is anything but safe. Stefano Domenicali has in fact declared that it will be difficult to maintain both Italian stages in 2026, opening the doors to different scenarios.

If on the one hand we could think about excluding one between Monza and Imola, on the other hand a rotation of the two stages could be the solution that everyone can agree on. Discussions are already underway while waiting for the work requested by Formula 1 and Liberty Media to be completed.
