Bellinzago Lombardo: Post-flood works continue in Gessate and Villa Fornaci

Following this week’s flood, today 19 May 2024, operations are still underway in Gessate, Villa Fornaci and Bellinzago Lombardo to restore the area and bring the lives of citizens overwhelmed by the water back to normal.

The rescue

After the floods, thanks to the prompt intervention of the emergency services, the water was removed from the homes within 48 hours and the electricity was restored in many places. Until Friday, the work of the local crisis unit saw around 200 external emergency vehicles and 500 people take to the field.

Works in progress

The operations to empty homes of material damaged by the water are now underway, thanks to the work of volunteers, including farmers and Civil Protection, in collaboration with Cem Ambiente and the authorities.

Esselunga also invaded by water

The Esselunga store in Gessate is being restored and has activated services for citizens: until 31 June 2024, citizens of the area affected by the flood will be able to receive a free contribution for home delivery of their shopping online with a minimum receipt of 40 euros. Furthermore, a free shuttle is available from the external car park of the Gessate store to the Vimercate Superstore. Intermediate stops viale Piave, 9 and piazza Roma in Gessate and via Manzoni 15 in Cambiago, every day from 8am to 8.30pm, with the exception of Sundays until 7.30pm (the timetables can be consulted at the stops).
