Ezio Bonanni, President of the National Asbestos Observatory, declared: “As the National Asbestos Observatory we will ask the Rome prosecutor that full light and justice be shed on the unacceptable and unjust death of Franco Di Mare also for the treatment received by the Rai which he himself denounced.”

“As an Observatory we will continue the battle for justice and take up the baton of the commitment of Franco Di Mare against asbestos. These are crimes that can be prosecuted ex officio and as an association we are ready to constitute ourselves as the offended parties. We will ask that those responsible for Di Mare’s death be identified and punished” Bonanni concluded.

The journalist Franco Di Mare, for years a presenter on Rai and a war correspondent, died in the late afternoon of 17 May. In the previous weeks he had talked about his illness, a terminal mesothelioma.
