TRIESTE The regional Civil Protection has issued an orange weather alert for Friuli Venezia Giulia, yellow for the Trieste and mountain areas from midnight on Thursday 16 May to 12 noon on Friday 17 due to strong thunderstorms.
In fact, during the night an Atlantic depression will approach from the west, activating a flow of humid southern currents.
Forecasts
During the night and in the morning, stationary rain, including thunderstorms, intense or very intense, will be possible, especially on the Pordenone and Udine plains and the Carnic Prealps. The thunderstorms will continue more attenuated and intermittent during the course of the day but will intensify again from late afternoon and until the night, when they will be possible and unstable, which will affect the region throughout the day on Thursday.
River alert
The Civil Protection reports that this event can lead to crises in the water network and the rise of lowland watercourses in the Livenza, Lemene, Isonzo and Tagliamento basins, but also phenomena of slope instability, interruption of traffic and problems related to gusts of wind during storms.
The Osmer
For Friday the Osmer forecast calls for cloudy skies in the mountainous area, variable in the plains, slightly cloudy on the coast. Scattered showers and thunderstorms during the day, more likely between the Pre-Alps and the plain in the afternoon. Rainfall will therefore generally be moderate or locally abundant.
