Sicily is certainly a magical land. It is really a “fact”, anyone who comes to visit our island is literally enveloped by the love and beauty of every “simple” square of Sicilianness. If “Cupid” also comes into play, Sicily becomes a land of unique love. There are many couples who have chosen Sicily to promise eternal love, but in this case Sicily was literally the “beating heart” of a new life together. A new couple was born in Sicily: Vincenzo Panico and Sara Poteri, they are now husband and wife.
We must, however, take a “step back” to understand the magic and love that Sicily gave to these two young spouses, both non-Sicilian. It was the summer of 2012, a well-known tourist entertainment agency was looking for a lifeguard for a hotel in Letojanni. Here the human resources manager of that agency receives Vincenzo’s contract in his hands and decides to carry out an initial interview. Vincenzo, just over 20 years old, was a resident of Somma Vesuviana, in the province of Naples. Definitely distant from Letojanni but with the desire to get involved. From there he began his work “adventure” as a lifeguard, just a stone’s throw from Taormina and the sea of Mazzeo.
In this structure, due to a combination of small things and a coincidence of fate, Sara arrives, directly from Brescia. For her, still a student, the possibility of carrying out a training internship within this hotel facility. Love is born. Cupid shoots his arrow and hits Vincenzo, known to all as Enzo the lifeguard, and Sara. At that moment everyone thought it would be a summer love, however, their love consolidated day after day.
Two years ago, to celebrate their first ten years of engagement, Enzo and Sara decided to return to Letojanni, precisely in that structure that made them meet. So, with the complicity of all the hotel staff, Enzo kneels down, takes out the ring and pronounces the fateful phrase “do you want to marry me?”. The answer is immediately “yes”. This is also demonstrated by a video shared with friends and relatives. Preparations begin for their most beautiful day. And so, a few days ago, in Manerba del Garda, in the province of Brescia, Enzo and Sara decided to say their “yes”, forever. At their side, together with Elisa, their lifelong friend, there was also that “famous” human resources manager as a witness. To him the casual “merit” of having given birth to this couple and to him the “task” of celebrating the civil ceremony that moved and excited everyone. During the ceremony, Sara remembered those Sicilian moments. «When I arrived in Sicily, in September 2012 – said the new bride – and I saw you for the first time, as you entered the restaurant of the tree, I thought: “There he is, the cool lifeguard who thinks he’s the guy in the hotel , he even made the move of pulling back his hair, he’s a real braggart.” I never thought I’d find myself marrying you. If they had told me at that moment, I would never have believed it.”
Even the new groom Vincenzo remembered those moments. «You immediately stood out, I liked you a lot, a blow to the heart, love at first sight. I remember that evening I was helping to tidy up the bar and suddenly I found you standing there in front of the counter, what a mess! I dropped the tray with cups and glasses. I was cooked!”. Sicily is witness to this love. Sicily is witness to this new family. Sicily is witness to an endless love.
