Ferrari #50 wins pole in Hypercar at the end of qualifying for the 2024 6 Hours of Spa; in LMGT3 first #85 of the Iron Dames.

There Ferrari #50 takes pole position in the Hypercar class at the end of qualifying and Hyperpole of the 6 Hours of Spa-Francorchamps, third stage of the WEC 2024. Behind the car entrusted to Fuoco they placed the Porsche #5 and the Cadillac #2. In the LMGT3 class it is instead the #85 of the Iron Dames took first place for the race on the Ardennes track.

WEC Qualifying 6 Hours Spa-Francorchamps 2024: another pole for Antonio Fuoco

After the usual free practice sessions, the WEC crews returned to the track to compete in qualifications and Hyperpole for the 6 Hours of Spa-Francorchampsthird round of 2024. Just under a month after the stage held in Imola, the battle was renewed on the track also known as theUniversity of Formula 1 before diving in the month leading up to the coveted 24 Hours of Le Mans (here you can find the entry list). Antonio Fuoco took the third pole position of the season in the Hypercar class aboard the 499P #50 of Ferrari AF Corse.

The battle heats up from the first minutes, with the various crews competing for the top 10 places to get back into the fight at the Hyperpole. The 499Ps approach the track calmly, but then the #50 of Ferrari AF Corse entrusted to Fuoco stands out. The Prancing Horse driver gets on behind both the Toyota #8 and the Porsche #5 led by Campbell. Fourth place for the #83 of AF Corse in the hands of Kubica, while the Alpine #35 closes the top 5. Also entering the 10 to compete for pole position at Spa are the #20 of Team WRT, the #12 of Hertz Team Jota, the #6 of Porsche, the #99 of Proton Competition and the #2 of Cadillac. Both the 499P #51, eleventh after the Calado test, and the Toyota #7, fifteenth, were out.

Within a few minutes, the crews classified among the top 10 in the Hypercar class were back on track to compete for pole position in the 6 Hours of Spa-Francorchamps. Antonio Fuoco confirms himself as the fastest on the Ardennes track with the time of 2:02.600. Closing behind the 499P #50 is Penske’s #5 Porsche; Campbell thus placed second, 5 tenths of a second from the time set by the Italian driver. Third position, not far from Porsche, for Cadillac #2 entrusted to Alex Lynn. Closing out the top 5 are the #99 of Proton Competition and the #12 of Hertz Team Jota, the latter in the hands of Ilott. Only seventh was the only one of the two Toyotas reached the Hyperpole; In fact, Hartley finished more than 9 tenths behind the #50 Ferrari. Ninth place instead for the other 499Pthe private #83 of AF Corse in the hands of Kubica for these qualifying sessions.

In LMGT3 to defeat the competition after the two sessions is #85 of the Iron Dames; with the time of 2:20.755Bovy gets behind the #95 United Autosports McLaren and the #46 Team WRT entrusted to Al Harthy. The Iron Dames therefore confirmed themselves as the fastest in Spa, obtaining the best time not only in the Hyperpole but also in the previous session. Fourth position, at the end of everything, for #91 Manthey EMAwhile the other McLaren, the #59 of United Autosports, closes the top 5. Seventh was the only Ferrari from Vista AF Corse, #54, to have entered the Hyperpole; Flohr, driving, did not go beyond the seventh fastest time, just over 8 tenths from that set by Bovy. The session was also interrupted by a red flag due to the accident of the #92 of Manthey Pure Rxcing; no consequences for the pilot.
