The pain continues to hit the Matteuzzi family with the news of the death of Maria Bartolini, the mother of Alessandra Matteuzzi, the 57-year-old who was killed by her ex-boyfriend Giovanni Padovani on 23 August 2022 outside her home and during an attack of unprecedented violence, with hammer blows, kicks, punches, and even the use of an iron bench. The day after tomorrow, May 11th at 10am, the blessing of Maria Bartolini’s body will be held in the morgue of the Bentivoglio hospital, followed by cremation. According to the wishes of her remaining daughter, Stefania Matteuzzi, Maria’s remains will be united with those of her husband and daughter Alessandra. In recent years, the Matteuzzi murder case has shaken public opinion because it was yet another case of brutal feminicide. Last February Padovani was sentenced to life imprisonment by the Assize Court of Bologna and the judges also recognized the aggravating circumstances of premeditation, frivolous motives, emotional bond and stalking. As emerged from the investigations, the victim died from numerous serious fractures to the head. During the autopsy, injuries to the chest also emerged. The medical examiner found that death was caused specifically by haemorrhage caused by the crushing of the skull.
