The former Udinese striker, David DiMichelespoke about the battle for survival that the Bianconeri are involved in in an interview with Il Gazzettino: “Success against Lecce would not guarantee survival for Udinese, even if it would be extremely important. It would represent a powerful boost for the next two matches, even against direct rivals for survival. The victory in these cases is worth double: Udinese therefore has destiny in their hands and must take advantage of it, now there are no excuses. Against Lecce Udinese at least have the chance to win that little point that shouldn’t be thrown away, and then try to defeat Empoli in the following round, whatever the cost. I think it was important to have avoided defeat against Napoli. I would add that I wasn’t displeased with Udinese, even if they had played better, like a real team, in the previous round in Bologna. However, the last-minute defeat against Roma was not needed. The last 20′ should have been managed differently, given the 1-1 draw after 72′ in the first “phase” of the match against the Giallorossi, given that errors in Serie A are paid for. However, the point gained at the last minute against Napoli compensates for the one lost against De Rossi’s team.”
