In view of the forest firefighting activities (AIB) of the 2024 summer season, the Minister for Civil Protection and Maritime Policies has issued the usual recommendations for a more effective fight against forest fires in urban and rural interface areas and the resulting risks .
There Note highlights the importance of the role of Mayors at local level, as territorial civil protection authorities, in organizing municipal resources according to plans and in promoting prevention measures to be implemented in the territory (Union Ordinance scheme). In detail, the note recalls among the activities of municipal administrations the information to the population on forest fire risk scenarios and related rules of conduct (also with the “I don’t risk” campaign), non-structural prevention activities for the reduction of fires interface forests; the application of restrictions on the areas affected by fire pursuant to art. 10 paragraph 1 of law 353 of 2000, also making use of the findings made available by the Carabinieri, as required by art. 3 c. 1 of Legislative Decree 120 of 2021.
Legislative decree no. 120/2021 intended to strengthen the operational capacity of the Civil Protection and the coordination of governance at different levels, in this context the Department for Civil Protection continues to carry out forecasting activities of the conditions of susceptibility to the ignition and propagation of forest fires through the national forest fire forecast bulletin.
