The new album by the American singer-songwriter went gold in just two weeks in Italy
Taylor Swift’s new album, “The Tortured Poets Department” achieved gold disc certification in Italy in just two weeks, a result never achieved before by the artist in Italy. The recording project remains stable for the second consecutive week at first place in the FIMI ranking in the CD, vinyl and cassette category.
The successes of “Fortnight”, single in collaboration with Post Malone which accompanied the release of the album, currently stable on Italian radio in the Top 50 of the EarOne chart. “Fortnight” became the song with the most streams in a single day in Spotify history, debuting #16 in the Spotify Italy chart with a total of 16 songs from “The tortured Poets Department” entering the Top 200. The official video clip of “Fortnight” has already totaled over 53M views.
In the week of its release, in which it totaled over one billion streams globally, “The Tortured POetrs Department” collected numerous records, including the most streamed album in a single day in the history of Spotify, the first album in the history of Spotify to total the most of 300M streams in a single day. Taylor Swift has thus become the most listened to artist in a single day in the history of Spotify.
Furthermore, on Apple Music it is the pop album that achieved the most streams on its first day of release, also confirming itself as the album with the most streams on its debut on Amazon Music. A few hours after its release, the international pop star surprised fans by announcing the special version of the new recording project on social media, “The Tortured Poets Department: The Anthology” for a total of 31 tracks.
“The Tortured Poets Department”, the eleventh career album of the record-breaking singer-songwriter comes after “1989 (Taylor’s Version)”, released on October 27, 2023 and certified gold in Italy. In Italy the fourth re-recording of Taylor Swift’s discography, after “Fearless”, “Red” And “Speak Now”, was the best-selling vinyl by a female artist in 2023. In the same year in Italy Taylor Swift was the female artist with the most top 100 best-selling albums (Midnights, 1989 (Taylor’s Version), Lover), as well to being the best-selling international female artist of 2023 with the album Midnights and the most certified female artist.
The multi-platinum artist and queen of international pop made history at the Grammy Awards this year by becoming the first artist to win the “Album of the Year” award four times with “Midnights“, certified platinum in Italy, after having already won previously with “Fearless” (2010), “1989” (2016) and “Folklore” (2021), certified platinum. Before her, only Stevie Wonder, Paul Simon and Frank Sinatra had succeeded, winning three.
With his “Eras Tour”, Taylor never ceases to amaze his fans by performing a live show lasting 3 hoursa 44-song setlist that includes all of his albums including the “Taylor’s Version” recordings. The tour will also arrive in Italy at the San Siro Stadium with two sold-out event dates on 13 and 14 July.
Taylor Swift achieved a major record by entering the Billboard 200 chart with ten of her albums in the top 100. At this year’s MTV Video Music Awards she collected the most nominations with 8 nominations, including “Video of the Year”, category of which he holds the record for having won for three consecutive years. Taylor Swift also collected several awards between the end of last year and the beginning of 2024 including: four Grammy Awards, five MTV Video Music Awards and six American Music Awards.
