Hat District, what future?

A workshop promoted by the Hats section of Confindustria Fermo took place yesterday in the City Council room. The introductory greetings were from the mayor Mauro Ferracuti. During his speech Fabrizio Luciani, president of Confindustria Fermo, said: “In this period characterized by an uncertain economic situation it is necessary to support a sector such as the hat sector which must be considered on a par with other fashion accessories. specific training courses must be addressed in the sector”. Rector Fabio Pollice of the University of Salento said: “In the early 90s I met some entrepreneurs from the Hat district who illustrated the characteristics of the production hub to me. This intrigued me and led me to hold training courses for the entrepreneurs of the district”. Addressing the entrepreneurs present, he added: “I invite you to reflect: if you don’t believe in yourself no one will believe in you. When you go abroad everyone tells you: “you Italians are a model for us. It is essential to network and this is very important for a particularly fragmented district like that of Hat. As a university I propose to the prof. Gregori to ally ourselves downstream and work on clothing accessories”. Prof. Gianluca Gregori, Rector of the Polytechnic University of Marche said: “I feel the need to identify and adopt adequate strategies to have a clear vision. Even in this area we must face a decrease in the population. The economic development which in some areas, in past years, has led to an increase in the population, has not occurred in Montappone where there are currently around 1,500 inhabitants with an old age index of 2.8 which is very high and with an average age of 49.3. The complexity we are experiencing today we have not experienced in recent years such as the cost of money which is eroding margins. Operators like those of the hat must take omnichannel into account to sell their products. We must manage complexity by formulating a strategic plan. It is important to adopt measurement, for example, of intangible factors. Take geomarketing into account to understand, analyze and decide. We must understand what represents value for the customer, to create and deliver value.” The president of the Chamber of Commerce Gino Sabatini added: “From the data I receive, SMEs are suffering a very strong crisis which will continue throughout 2025 A discussion on redundancy payments and the moratorium is urgently needed.”
