For some the discomfort is there, for others a little less. The fact remains that for Bomba Day many are forced to close their businesses. And so we had to make do to organize ourselves for an alternative day.
He is the extreme case. Guido Politini, karate master, is the owner of the sports center of the same name which is located in via Palmanova, parallel to via De Gasperi, a few meters from where the bomb was found. “I’m right under the bomb,” he jokes. In his gym today he too will have to “turn off the gas and the light – he says – and then leave. And we will have to remain closed until further notice, even if we have already put in the timetable that we will be closed all day.” Many users of the center will have to do without it. «With the karate group we are around 50 people – he explains – then there is the weight room and gentle gymnastics. Due to the bomb, at least a hundred people will ultimately not be able to come to the gym, among other activities. There is discomfort, but what can we do?”. He doesn’t lack a way to spend the day. «How will I spend it? With work at home: I pruned the olive trees, I have to clean and cut the grass. This will be my bomba day.”
Then there is the lawyer Enrico Valentini. His studio is located in the historic center, in via Marconi. «This total closure – he comments – has allowed many of us to make a long bridge. We’ve been doing nothing but opening and closing for the holidays since April 25th.” He has already followed up with the evacuation. «This time – he continues – I took the opportunity to go on a business trip, given that my studio, located in the red zone, will not be able to open today».
Day off instead for all employees of the Cna, the National Confederation of Crafts. «The closure – says the secretary, Luigia Melaragni – concerns the entire headquarters in via I Maggio. Here we are about 25 people.” The headquarters of Cna Sostenibile, in the Poggino industrial area, will remain open. «For us, the evacuation does not cause great inconvenience, because fortunately it does not coincide with particular tax deadlines. The employees took a day off, perhaps some would have preferred to take it on another occasion. But from the corporate point of view, of our business, it doesn’t create big problems. In fact, we have no production or orders to deliver. If there had been a deadline, then there would have been inconvenience, even for users.” How did Melaragni organize itself? «I take the opportunity to spend a day with the family. Working a little too, maybe just on the phone. The colleagues at Sostenibile, on the other hand – she concludes – are happy that the office is open because they will use the workplace as an evacuation site.”
