An 82-year-old man, resident in the Turin area, died in the late afternoon today, Monday 6 May 2024, due to an accident that occurred in Corso Garibaldi in Venaria, shortly after the Tripoli bridge roundabout.
The tragedy occurred around 5.30pm. Although the causes are being investigated by the Carabinieri of the Venaria Company, the 82-year-old was apparently struck by an illness while he was driving his BMW and while he was headed towards the center of the city of the Royal Palace. He then hit two other vehicles with his car: a Fiat Punto and a 500 XL.
Attempts to resuscitate him by the 118 healthcare personnel of the Royal Cross Public Assistance and the Green Cross were in vain.
Another man, the driver of the Fiat Punto, was transported to Ciriè hospital for facial trauma. The driver of the 500 XL, however, was in shock.
The artery was closed to traffic in both directions from the roundabout in Via Iseppon up to and including Largo Garibaldi, with strong repercussions for the city’s traffic and that to and from the Lanzo Valleys.
