Over 28 million euros of PNRR funds to carry out two projects to improve the water network and reduce water losses in province of Imperia and La Spezia: the ranking of financing proposals for projects presented by the ATOs and network managers was in fact approved by the Ministry of Infrastructure.
Improving the water network and reducing losses: 28 million euros arrive in Liguria
«These are important interventions – explains the Environment Councilor of the Liguria Region Giacomo Giampedrone -, which have been positively evaluated and admitted to financing. The incoming funds will cover a significant percentage of the resources needed to intervene. These are projects presented by the ATOs and the network managers: the Liguria Region has strongly supported these plans so that they obtain the necessary funds. Investments will improve control technologies to prevent losses, as well as monitoring technologies to intervene promptly and reduce them. In a historical phase in which the problem of drought presents itself with ever greater frequency, operations of this type are fundamental and represent one of the primary interventions to be implemented at the level of water networks to safeguard an indispensable resource such as water”.
The details of the two projects
The project concerning the La Spezia area, “Reduction of losses in water distribution networks, including digitalisation, network monitoring and rehabilitation of network sections” was financed with 11 million and 539 thousand euros (out of a total value of 13 million and 639 thousand euros). As regards the Imperia area, the project entitled “Loss reduction project – Ato Ovest Imperia – Riviera dei Fiori” was financed with 16 million and 945 thousand euros (out of a total value of 18 million and 445 thousand euros)
