Accident at motorbike rally, a 17-year-old boy dies

The motorbike rally that was organized yesterday, Sunday 5 May, in Monale d’Asti ended in tragedy. It was the twelfth edition of the initiative, with two-wheel enthusiasts arriving from all over Piedmont.

A 17-year-old young man was taking part in the tour on his motorbike, and was traveling along the paths of the hills: suddenly, for reasons still to be clarified, the young man hit the edge of the road not far from the crossroads leading to Piea and Piovà Massaia and fell, also hitting a guardrail. It was around noon.

The arrival of rescuers

Rescue efforts were immediately started by the 118 operators, together with the other volunteers who were responsible for the safety of the event. Unfortunately there was nothing that could be done for the very young centaur, and shortly afterwards he was declared dead.

The victim of this tragedy is Andrea Danusso, born in 2006, resident in Priocca d’Alba and son of a well-known farmer who has a company in the area. It is the second victim that the Asti area mourns in the space of a couple of weeks: in mid-April another 17 year old had lost his life on a motorbike following a collision with a car.
