First day Trap, Sessa in the lead in the women’s event in Baku – FITAV

Baku (AZE) – The ISSF World Cup in Baku officially kicked off with the first 75 targets of the Trap competition.

In the women’s category, the best on the platform was our Erica Sessa. The young shooter from Cava de ‘Tirreni, bearer of the Fiamme Oro, only let two targets escape and with 73/75 she is alone at the top of the provisional ranking. Teammates are late. Alessia Iezzi (Carabinieri) from Manoppello (PE) stopped at 64/75, while Federica Caporuscio (Carabinieri) from Rome at 62/75. Among the shooters competing only for the Ranking points, Sofia Littamè (Aeronautica Militare) from Baone (PD) closed this first day with 66/75 and Isabella Cristiani (Marina Militare) from San Giuliano Terme (PI) with 63/45 .

At the moment the men’s ranking is led by the Turkish Tolga Tuncer N, the only one to have reached 74/75. The Azzurri’s start to the match wasn’t very brilliant. Erminio Frasca (Fiamme Oro) from Priverno (LT) was the best of the Italian contingent with 71/75, while Valerio Grazini (Carabinieri) from Viterbo and Daniele Resca (Carabinieri) from Pieve di Cento (BO) follow him, respectively with 70 /75 and 69/75. Among the shooters competing only for Ranking points, Emanuele Iezzi from Manoppello (PE) retired with an excellent 72/75 and Marco Correzzola from Merlara (PD) with 70/75.

Tomorrow the competition will continue with another 50 qualifying targets and the finals, starting at 1.30 pm Italian time.

Meanwhile, Skeet’s Azzurri also landed in the Azerbaijani capital today. The Team, led by Technical Director Sandro Bellini, is made up of Elia Sdruccioli (Army) from Ostra (AN), Niccolò Sodi (Air Force) from Arezzo, Erik Pittini (Fiamme Oro) from Sutrio (UD), Giancarlo Tazza (Fiamme Oro ) of Caserta and Marco Sablone (Fiamme Oro) of Rome for the men’s sector and by Martina Maruzzo of Nanto (VI), Giada Longhi (Fiamme Oro) of Longone Sabino (RI) and Sara Bongini (Fiamme Oro) of Impruneta (FI) for the female one.

Their first commitment will be with official training on Tuesday 7 May, while the race will take them on Wednesday 8, Thursday 9 and Friday 10 May.
