The company is safe
Thanks to the generosity of Apulian entrepreneurs, politicians and professionals, the farmhouse on sale in Laterza owned by the Verdi family is safe.
The news was reported by the “Legalità” movement chaired by Rachele Ciardo.
The livestock farm in question is the one linked to the terrible crime episode of last January: the suicide of the Laerto agricultural entrepreneur Michele Verdi. The man, oppressed by a debt of 60 thousand euros, took his own life because his company, worth around 330 thousand euros, had first been foreclosed and then auctioned for only 24 thousand euros.
A tragedy capable of shaking the entire territory and encouraging the “Legalità” movement to move from words to deeds, organizing a fundraiser with the collaboration of the president of the regional study and inquiry commission on the phenomenon of organized crime in Puglia Renato Perrini.
On the subject, last March 4th a hearing was held in Bari in order to write and approve an ad hoc law to protect agricultural businesses in a serious debt situation, to avoid the attention of Puglia’s organized crime which with the usury, as well as thefts and robberies, continues to mortify the entire regional agricultural sector. Among those present, in addition to the regional councilor Perrini, there were representatives of the “Legality Movement” chaired by Rachele Ciardo, the president of the “Antiracket Regionale Molfetta” association Renato De Scisciolo and the family members of Michele Verdi.
On the sidelines of that meeting, Perrini offered the entire commission’s availability to bring to the council a national law proposal that responds to the requests of the associations involved in the prevention and protection of victims of usury.
