The chef of AstroSamantha arrives in Ragusa for the “A fiery slow” event organized by the Guccione Pharmacy, in via Carducci in Ragusa. Stefano Polato, the chef who cooked Samantha Cristoforetti’s meals for the “Futura” space mission, will in fact be among the illustrious speakers at the conference scheduled for May 14th in the Iblean capital. Alongside him, Dr. Alfredo Saggioro, pioneer in the European field of Functional Medicine, and Professor Gregorio Peron, food chemist and researcher at the University of Brescia. The Roman journalist Giorgio Pomponi will moderate. The meeting will focus on the importance of nutrition as a weapon of prevention but with a specific focus on the preparation of meals. In particular, it will be highlighted how to process food in a way that respects micronutrients. We will therefore talk about “glycation”, a silent and harmful mechanism for the human body because it is linked to the harmful transformation of sugars and proteins. “It will be a technical-scientific meeting on how to avoid developing harmful substances during cooking, a little-known and very important topic that will be covered by first-rate speakers”, explain Luca and Giuseppe Guccione, owners of the historic Ragusa Pharmacy. In detail, Dr. Saggioro will speak about “Body ecosystem: a journey through health, microbiota and functional medicine”. The floor will then pass to Professor Peron for the speech entitled “What’s cooking? Reflections of a chemist in the kitchen”. Finally, chef Polato will be the protagonist of a cooking show with the theme “From space to earth. How Ale space research and science can help us avoid making mistakes in the kitchen.” The appointment is for May 14th, starting at 4.45 pm, in the Aula Magna of the Galileo Ferraris Institute in Ragusa. The event is free but the number of places will be limited.
