Film about the Napoli scudetto: the first day had 2,400 spectators (grossing 30 thousand euros)

The film in terms of takings (not spectators) entered the top ten of the day led by Challengers, Guadagnino’s film

Fans of SSC Napoli gather on May 5, 2023 outside the club’s training center in Castel Volturno, north of Naples, to welcome Napoli’s players whose plane is expected to land at the nearby military airport of Caserta – Grazzanise, a day after Napoli won the Italian champions “Scudetto” title following a decisive match in Udine. – Napoli ended a 33-year wait to win Italy’s Serie A on May 4 after a 1-1 draw at Udinese secured their third league title and emulated the great teams led by Diego Maradona. Film on the Napoli scudetto: the first day had 2,400 spectators. “I’ll be with you” – the film about the Napoli championship obviously produced by Aurelio De Laurentiis – had just under 2,400 spectators on its first day in cinemas (2,398 to be precise). And it grossed 30,179 euros. Making the division, the average single ticket costs 12 and 50 euros.

The film in terms of takings (not spectators) entered the top ten of the day led by Challengers, the “Jules and Jim” of tennis (let’s hope that Truffaut doesn’t get excessively angry at this careless and indeed inappropriate comparison). Just to give an example, Guadagnino’s film yesterday grossed 200 thousand euros with 26,573 spectators.

The film about the scudetto should not be underestimated, it also explains this year’s crisis

by Guido Trombetti

I went to see the preview of the film “I’ll be with you”. The documentary film on Napoli’s title-winning gallop directed by Andrea Boselli. I went there accompanied by a sort of skepticism. And in reality I had to change my mind. Meanwhile the film is a flood of images. Images of unforgettable goals like some of those from Kvara and Osimhen. Images of streets, alleys, fans, spectators in the stadium. It’s certainly not about Taxi Driver or The Godfather. And not even the Blue Angel. This isn’t Scorsese or Coppola. And not even Von Sternberg’s. The subject of the film is what it is. The story of a championship won after 33 years. However, the narrative is well orchestrated and if you look carefully it explains the magic of the championship.

But also (perhaps unconsciously) the roots of this year’s crisis. There is no lack of space for any of the protagonists. From the president who declared in the summer press conference “we will fight for the scudetto”. Demonstrating qualities of a seer that no one had ever attributed to him. Giuntoli is a great weaver of relationships. He is a shrewd manager of the locker room. A refined voice of society in Lombardo. To Spalletti, the true protagonist of the film, who managed to create a team effort envied and admired by the whole world. A detail. Among the words of Osimhen, Anguissa, Raspadori, Di Lorenzo, a phrase by Zielinski struck me. That at a certain point, I don’t know how consciously, he says “we Neapolitans…”. Frankly, he seemed sincere to me to the point of feeling very sorry to think that he will actually go away, apparently due to the greed of his agent!)

The most intriguing part of the film are the scenes set in the locker room. With Spalletti giving tactical instructions and psychological support, he invites us to be a team player and not to let ourselves be overcome by individual selfishness. However, I was struck more than anything by the particular attention (about 20-25 minutes) that was given to the three consecutive matches against Milan. A loss by four to zero. A loss by one to zero. The other tied. Which cost us the loss of a great opportunity. Never before had this happened in the history of Napoli. Reach a semi-final (and perhaps a final) of the Champions League. When the whole world began to point to Napoli as the favorites to win the final. In short, in the apotheosis of achieving the title of Italian champion, there is plenty of room for disappointment at the exclusion from the cup. Spalletti, with great honesty, says about the defeat by four to zero, a phrase along the lines of “I prepared the match badly”. And this defeat gave Milan the perception of being able to beat us. Chance and accidents did the rest.

Then, like all films, every viewer finds something different in it. Depending on his state of mind, his beliefs, his feelings towards the protagonists. In the meantime, I feel like advising you to see it.
