After a period of silence, imposed by the fight against tinnitus, Piero Pelù returns to the stages with a new album and a message that echoes deep in the soul. Deserti, his tenth studio album, will be released on June 7th on Epic Records/Sony Music Italy, marking the second chapter of the Trilogy of Discomfort.
This work explores the burning issues of loneliness, alienation and disillusionment, channeling the grit and intensity that have always characterized Pelù’s art. After having set the stage on fire in twelve editions of the May Day Concert, from 1990 until today, Piero Pelù is preparing for another chapter in his epic career.
This summer, he will be the fulcrum of the Deserti tour 2024, bringing his contagious energy to the stages of the main summer festivals. But the real return to the roots comes with a more intimate tour, where the contact between audience and artist will be palpable, where sweat and passion will mix in a single explosion of rock ‘n’ roll energy. To fully enjoy the Pelù experience, we will have to wait a few more months, but we will be able to attend the performance of the master of Tuscan rock also in Puglia.
A single appointment, on December 14th, at the Demodè Club in Modugno, where he will be joined by a band of virtuosos of the caliber of Giacomo Castellano “Castillo” on guitar, Luca Martelli “Mitraglia” on drums and Max Gelsi “Sigel” on bass. Piero Pelù is a figure that goes beyond music: he is an icon of protest, a warrior of freedom of expression who has graced the stages of the world for over three decades. The new journey of Italian rock, as only he can do, begins with “Novichok”, a powerful reflection on war and violence, named after the nerve agent used in the 2018 Salisbury attack. Recorded in the cellar in via De ‘ Bardi in Florence, a sacred place for Litfiba, the legendary band of which Pelù was the frontman, this track is a tribute to his roots and a declaration of intent for the future. It will be an epic concert, an event that promises to be one of the culminating moments of summer 2024, an unrepeatable opportunity to savor the new album and experience the magic of rock ‘n’ roll in its most authentic and pure form. Piero Pelù is back, and the world of music will never be the same again.
