Capo d’Orlando: accident in San Martino. Two motorcyclists injured

A motorcycle tour in Sicily for a group of 16 couples of centaurs from Vicenza was about to turn into a tragedy.

This morning, around 8.45, a couple of motorcyclists, on board a BMV 1200 GS, belonging to the “Boxer Motoclub” of Vicenza, coming from Palermo, after a short ride through the streets of the center of Capo d’Orlando, were headed in Messina.

At the crossroads of San Martino, according to the testimonies collected on site, the two entered onto State Road 113.

A Citroen van, which was traveling in the direction of Palermo-Messina on the national road, hit them squarely with no possibility of being able to avoid them, as the driver of the vehicle would have said.

The couple was thrown into another car parked near the fuel station and, in the impact, they suffered significant injuries even though they were conscious during the treatment of the 118 doctors who immediately arrived on site.

Two ambulances transported the injured to hospital. Local police officers from Capo d’Orlando were also on site and also took steps to regulate traffic.
