SENIGALLIA Flags at half-mast today in the Municipality for the tenth anniversary of the flood of 3 May 2014. The prefecture authorized the municipal administration yesterday which had requested it. The victims will also be remembered on the occasion of the celebrations of San Paolino, patron saint of the city. Finally, a special service for those who died on May 3, 2014 will be celebrated on Sunday in Borgo Bicchia. Tomorrow is San Paolino but the celebrations will be anticipated today at 6pm with a Eucharistic celebration with reflection in the Chapel of San Gaudenzio and at 9.15pm at the Portone Theater there will be a meeting with professor Roberto Mancini on “Friendship. Between the taste of life and the common good”.

The celebrations

Tomorrow there will be Eucharistic celebrations at 8 and 10 am, then the one at 6 pm will be presided over by Bishop Franco Manenti, concelebrated with the priests of the various parishes. This year too the services will be held in the Cancelli church as the Cathedral is still closed after the last earthquake. At 7pm there will be a small procession to Piazza Roma with music by the Città di Senigallia musical band. An exhibition with workshops is scheduled in Piazza Garibaldi for boys and girls aged 1 to 7, from 4pm to 6pm, organized by the San Vincenzo Paritario Educational Centre. In the afternoon no services will be celebrated in the other city churches. «The victims of the flood will be remembered in the normal masses – explains Don Paolo Gasperini – then on Saturday during the San Paolino service and in Borgo Bicchia there will be mass on Sunday at 9 am». Borgo Bicchia no longer has a church, closed following an earthquake. On the first Sunday of the month a function is celebrated within the Arci club, next Sunday’s will be dedicated to the victims. For the tenth anniversary of the flood of May 3rd, Caritas has instead organized a conference, scheduled for May 10th at the Gabbiano cinema, in the presence of the well-known geologist Mario Tozzi.
