VIAREGGIO. He has been retired since Wednesday 1 May Giancarlo Casolodirector of the complex Cardiology structure of the “Versilia” hospital for 18 years.
The carreer
Graduated in Medicine and Surgery in 1981, Casolo specialized in cardiology at the University of Florence, working first at the San Giovanni di Dio hospital and then at Careggi, before winning the competition for the Versilia hospital in 2006. Here he introduced the the use of advanced diagnostic techniques for the study of the heart, of which he was a pioneer at a national level. He has obtained prestigious national and international awards and has been national councilor and several times regional president of the Association of Hospital Cardiologists. He has an intense scientific activity with numerous publications, culminating in 2017 with an invited talk at the congress of the American College of Cardiology in Washington. In 2018 the ASL awarded him the task of coordinating care for heart failure.

Finally, a dutiful thank you to our family doctor colleagues who have established a strong collaboration with us, the only real tool to promote care in a fair and appropriate way.
